The are a thousand sites providing song chords and tabs, so search them one by one is basically impossible. That is, why we invented the AllAtOnceSearch, which queries all the big guitar sites at once (that's where the name came from).
The - by far - largest archive of guitar notes is the Online Guitar Archive (short: OLGA). Because the OLGA-Server is quite busy sometimes some websites have set up mirrors of the whole archive. directTABS is one of those sites, so you can access the OLGA from our high-performance backbone.
Every month we send a newsletter, called "Chord Of The Month", with the chords/tabs of the newest songs to thousands of guitarists on the web. Most newsletters will contain MIDI-files for those song so one can play along with new song easily.
It usually takes some time until a new song appears in one of the guitar archives but quite often someone already tabbed it and submitted it to the alt.guitar.tab newsgroup. That's why searching this newsgroup is always worth a try. Another way is to request a song in the newsgroup. Most of the times someone with the song already tabbed will send it to you. You are encouraged to do so too, if you have the song.
Finally - as one of the largest guitar sites - directTABS has a archive of its own too. We are not trying to provide yet another huge archive. What we do is search for songs that are not in one of those other archives and then have one of our staff tab it. All songs searched through our AllAtOnceSearch, that end up with no results are automatically entered in our database and due for tabbing. So check back sometime later and there it is!
